Information Day.
Location : Broomfield Hospital
Speaker : Kim Merry, Speech therapist who specialises in treating people with Down syndrome from pre-school to adults
On the day there was a morning session and an afternoon session, both well attended.
The sessions followed the format of informal presentations by Kim of what experience she has, syndicate activities and discussion of what parents and carers would find useful from Kim.
The consensus seemed to be that individual assessments for our children and then group workshops with Parents and Carers may be a useful way to go.
Committee members will be working with Kim to take this forward and develop a program based on suggestions from this event.
It is hoped that those who wish to take part can benefit from Kim’s vast experience and knowledge.
